Hi! I’m Madi.

I’m a social worker, writer, folk witch, and co-owner of Roots & Ritual, a witchy shop in Chicago.

For a long time I’ve worked within traditional systems of care - nonprofits and clinical settings - but I’ve found they often lack room for magic and true self-sovereignty.

That’s why I’m building a practice outside of the systems that have stifled me and so many others. By blending over a decade of social work experience with the ancestral wisdom of folk magic, I offer a different kind of support.

Together, we can work to identify your values and dreams, build practical and magical skills to support you, release narratives that keep you small, and write a new story in their place - one that reflects who you are when you finally stop trying to fit in.

Through 1:1 sessions, workshops, and group programs, I provide compassionate, trauma-informed support as you work toward crafting your most magical life.

I have worked in non-profits for over a decade in a variety of roles. I’ve worked across the fields of mental health, youth services, case management, and nonprofit consulting. I’ve been in many other one-off workshops and classes over the years, but the ones listed above are the longer-term courses I’ve participated in whose teachings shape my spiritual practice the most.

My Ethics of Practice

This is a living document of values, practices, and boundaries that guide my work.

The intention of this is to offer clarity about what I offer and support mutual respect in our working relationship. This document was inspired by and created from a workshop I attended with Mother of Mystics on Ethics for Spiritual Business.

I offer 1:1 sessions, long-term courses, and one-off workshops. These services are designed to support you in reconnecting with what matters most and integrating magic into your everyday life.

What you can expect if we work together:

  • A reflective, grounded space where you are seen, heard, and affirmed.

  • Tangible tools that support values-aligned decisions and committed action.

  • Sessions that are held with care, confidentiality, and compassion.

Logistics

  • Length: Each 1:1 session lasts one hour.

  • Access: You’ll receive a meeting link and any necessary prep instructions before we meet.

  • Recordings: Sessions are not recorded by me, but you are welcome to record for personal use.

  • Follow-Up: You’ll receive a follow-up email with resources we discussed. You are welcome to ask any clarifying questions by replying to this email.

Accountability & Feedback

I offer feedback forms after sessions so you can share about your experience. Your reflections help ensure my work stays aligned with my values and your needs. While responses are confidential, I acknowledge the limitations of this.

Confidentiality

What is shared in session stays in session. Any post-session feedback may be used as a testimonial only with your explicit consent.

Boundaries & Scope of Practice

  • I do not offer therapy, mental health treatment, or medical advice. I do not assist folks actively in crisis or folks who need support processing trauma and traumatic experiences.

  • I may refer you to a therapist, healer, peer support services, or other practitioners if I believe your needs would be better supported elsewhere.

  • My services are not meant to replace other forms of care.

Communicating Boundaries

These ethics and boundaries are shared openly on my website and social platforms. Transparency is an ongoing practice, and I welcome questions.

Core Values

My work is an extension of me and my values guide every aspect of it. These include community, joy, creativity, growth, compassion, and authenticity.

I believe in a world where care is political, healing is collective, and magic is accessible to everyone. I hope for my work to be one thread in the large web of that vision.

Your Boundaries

Your autonomy is sacred. I will never pressure you to share more than you’re comfortable with, and I will always respect your right to say no, redirect a conversation, or pause a session.
